Release of Santa Fe's legendary poet, Rose's seminal work The Pearl Upon the Crown: Eight Cantos.
Born Sanford Cohen in the Bronx, New York in 1934, the poet renamed himself Rosé when he began performing as a poet and storyteller in the tradition of the ultra-hip Lord Buckley, harking back to the oral roots of epic poetry. Rose had a variety of life experiences that led him to different jobs and educational opportunities. He performs as a stand-up poet in salons, homes, theatres, clubs, sushi bars, on radio and television in New York, LA, Miami and Santa Fe. His best known performance was at the United Nations in New York City in conjunction with an exhibit he organized and produced, “Swords into Plowshares, Tony Price: Atomic Art Exhibition.” He is the author of Poetraits and his work has appeared in various issues of THE Magazine, Santa Fe, NM.

BOOK LAUNCH & AUTHOR SIGNING PERILOUS PASSAGE: THE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND THE UNIVERSE IN OTHER WORDS Please join us to celebrate the second edition of Perilous Passage: the Nervous System and the Universe in Other Words, by Terry Wilson. This story is an account of Wilson's lifetime apprenticeship under the master shamanic practitioner, Brion Gysin, the hidden master of the avant-garde, of whom William Burroughs said, "He is the only man I respect." The book focuses on events as they developed just prior to and after Gysin's death in 1986. Wilson details the extreme psychic "Third Mind" effects known as The Process, and includes transcribed audio hallucinations, notes, cut-ups, the interview format, and collaged material. The second edition includes a preface by Ian MacFadyen. Like Gysin and Burroughs, Wilson treats language itself as a parasitic invader which must be resisted, broken up and reassembled. This book is about how the magic was passed on and carried into the future.
“Perilous Passage is a trip to the Beat Hotel’s secret annex and beyond. This multiplanar text catalogues forms of consciousness in the other zone, extreme phenomena, flashes of episodes, the evanescent Djoun forces.” — Leo Edelstein & Judith Elliston, Pataphysics CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE BIOSPHERE

Come Meet the Pioneering Psychologist DR. RALPH METZNER Join us for a discussion,
reading
& storytelling at Moby Dickens Bookshop in Taos Don’t miss a spirited evening with Ralph Metzner as he discusses Birth of a Psychedelic Culture, his recent memoir collaboration with Ram Dass covering thepioneering research with psychedelics they did with Dr. Timothy Leary during the early Sixties. Birth of a Psychedelic Culture shines a bright
light on the emergence of the Sixties culture and the experiments
with mind-altering substances undertaken by Professors Timothy
Leary, Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) and then-Harvard graduate student
Ralph Metzner. Based on a series of conversations between Metzner
and Ram Dass this book describes their initial experiments at
Harvard, the experiments afterthey were dismissed from Harvard,
their journeys to India and their reflections on that transformative
era. Professor Metzner will also be discussing his recently released
book Life Cycle of the Human Soul. No understanding of the history of the Sixties could ever be
complete without a grasp of the work of Leary, Alpert and Metzner,
the cultural resistance to their experiments, and the way in which
psychoactive drug use became a part of contemporary society. Don’t
miss this rare Taos event! “Birth of a Psychedelic Culture reads
like a Who's Who of arts and sciences in the Sixties.” |

the story of exciting discoveries in conscious expansion in the
Sixties through a series of bravely honest and witty conversations

about mind expansion and planetary awareness long after their
initial LSD experiments were over. No understanding of the history
of that decade could ever be complete without a grasp of the work
of Leary, Alpert, and Metzner, the cultural resistance to their
experiments, and the way in which psychoactive drug use became
a part of Join us on Friday, September 3 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM where Ralph
Metzner will read from his latest collaboration with Ram Dass,
